Let's Talk About Sex
Most of my clients come to me because they’re struggling with their sex life and they’re pretty sure it’s all their fault. They’re not having the kind of sex that they want or sex has just become an enormous problem in their relationship. I often find that at the root of these issues surrounding sexuality is shame.
Sometimes that shame is connected to:
· A negative relationship to your own body
· Believing you don’t deserve sexual pleasure or that sex is something you do just for your partner
· Societal & cultural expectations of gender roles
· A belief that whatever you’re into is just too "weird" and you want to feel “normal” but can’t shake this particular desire
Sex is wonderful… and confusing… and hard to talk about. I work with my clients either individually or as couples and my goal is help you uncover exactly what is keeping you from the sex life you want and how to communicate your feelings, fears, and desires in order to get it.
Cassie Willnauer, MA, LCPC, LPC, NCC
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I love sitting with clients and helping them figure out exactly how worthy of love and pleasure they truly are. It’s always been a strong suit of mine to talk about the things that are really difficult to talk about.
Body positivity, sex positivity, and sex education are also passion areas of mine. Advocacy is an important part of who I am and I strive to be inclusive.
I received my Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from The University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2015. I have completed extensive training in Perinatal Mental Health with Postpartum Support International and I am currently working to become a Certified Sex Therapist through The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.
SEX & SEXUALITY
I found through seeking my own therapy that not all therapists are open to talking about sex and sexuality. I am currently in training to become a Certified Sex Therapist with the American Academy of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. I strive to be the kind of therapist that is inclusive, sensitive, and well informed about sexuality so my clients are comfortable bringing every aspect of who they are into the therapy room. I see individuals, couples, and all partnership structures.
I work from a Health At Every Size lens. This means that I'm not going to pathologize you simply for the size and shape of your body. I believe with every fiber of my being that all bodies deserve love, joy & pleasure. I am anti-diet and work to balance the desires of my clients without endorsing intentional weight loss as a cure for any of their struggles.
PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM
Pregnancy and postpartum are times of extreme change and often extreme emotions. Perinatal mood disorders are slowly becoming more widely understood, but still remain mysterious and confusing to new moms. I've chosen to specialize in this area after seeking my own counseling during pregnancy and finding that the Kansas City area is in need of more providers with competence in treating these unique disorders. I have completed training in Perinatal Mental Health Postpartum Support International.
Sessions are 53-60 minutes and cost $140/session. This can be paid with HSA/FSA funds as well as any other credit/debit card.
I can also provide a superbill for those seeking to use their out-of-network benefits.
